Katherine is a portrait photographer based in Somerset, whose work is deeply rooted in human connection and cultural exploration.

Her photographic practice has garnered significant recognition, with her work shortlisted for the ‘New Blood’ D&AD Award and featured in prominent publications such as The Guardian and The New York Times. Katherine is also published by National Geographic, and her client portfolio includes renowned charitable organisations such as Shelter, The National Lottery Fund, and Stand Up to Cancer.

Born and raised near Lisbon, Portugal, in an international, therapy-centred community, Katherine developed an early and enduring interest in the dynamics of human relationships. She holds an MA(Hons) in Social Anthropology from the University of St Andrews, after which she worked with a human rights organisation in San Francisco, California. It was here that Katherine's passion for photography took root, eventually becoming her primary artistic medium. In 2011, she was commissioned to create a retrospective photographic series on the Amahuaca people of the Inuya River in the Peruvian Amazon. This project fused her background in anthropology with her creative vision, and it was the catalyst for her ongoing exploration of culture, identity, and the human experience through visual storytelling.

Katherine’s work is defined by a thoughtful, insightful approach that reflects her academic background, lived experience and intuitive understanding of the human condition. Her images are marked by a sensitivity to her subjects, capturing their essence in ways that evoke deep emotional resonance and provoke thought. She seeks to not only document but also foster empathy, understanding, and social awareness.

In addition to her artistic practice, Katherine is the co-founder of Proper Good, a creative agency dedicated to producing impactful film and photographic content for purpose-driven charities and organisations.
